Zimbabwe midfielder Marshall Munetsi COULD miss AFCON due to injury

Zimbabwe could face a significant setback ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with midfielder Marshall Munetsi reportedly sidelined due to injury.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder picked up the injury while playing for his club, with head coach Rob Edwards providing an update ahead of Monday night’s Premier League clash against Manchester United.

“We think he’s pulled his calf but we don’t know the full details yet,” Edwards told BBC Sport.

The setback comes at a challenging time for the Warriors, who are already dealing with limited preparation.

FIFA has permitted clubs to delay the release of AFCON-bound players until 15 December, leaving Zimbabwe with fewer options in training camp.

Zimbabwe will kick off their tournament campaign against Angola on 22 December before facing Egypt and regional rivals South Africa in the group stage.
