Yaya Toure calls Pep Guardiola a snake in new explosive interview
Yaya Touré has launched a fresh criticism of Pep Guardiola, opening up about their strained relationship in a new interview that has quickly stirred conversation across the football world.
Speaking on Zack en Roue Libre on YouTube, the Ivorian midfield legend did not mince words when recalling his experiences with the Manchester City manager from their time together at Barcelona.
Yaya Touré, in the interview, didn’t exactly hold back his words when asked about Pep Guardiola and described the Spanish manager as a snake.
“When I look at Pep Guardiola, I don’t see a man, I see a snake. Pep calls me back then and says, “You have to come back, it’s important.” My wife says to me, “Are you going to listen to that nonsense? He treated you like dirt, and now he wants you to stay, and you’re going to stay? Let’s go to Manchester, my brother’,” he said.
Touré went on to reflect on the 2010 World Cup and the circumstances around his exit from Barcelona.
“The guy didn’t play me all year, and at the end of the year, I shine at the World Cup [in 2010], and he brings me to Barcelona. My wife would tell me about him. ‘Sheytan, he’s not a man, he’s wicked.’ She sees him as a negative person.”
Touré’s comments add yet another chapter to one of football’s most talked-about player-manager fallouts, reigniting debate over the long-standing tension between the two.
