We can compete against any opposition – Sunderland and Morocco forward Chemsdine Talbi
Moroccan forward Chemsdine Talbi says Sunderland have proven they can match any Premier League opponent following their hard-fought 1–0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
The 20-year-old, who joined the Black Cats from Belgian side Club Brugge, has been ever-present in the league this season, helping his side collect 11 points from their opening six matches.
“We are consistent in every game and we know what we need to do,” Talbi told the Sunderland Echo.
“We can take points everywhere, even away from home. We showed great mentality here – even if it wasn’t our best game – but we took the three points.”
Talbi’s adaptability has been crucial to Sunderland’s strong start. The winger has operated on both flanks and says each appearance is building his confidence.
“Whatever position the coach asks me to play, I’ll give my best,” he said. “On the left side, I’m more aggressive, one-on-one. It was difficult at first coming from Belgium, but every game I feel I’m improving.”
Talbi is expected to feature again when Sunderland face Manchester United at Old Trafford this weekend.
