Swiss-Nigerian striker Noah Okafor opens up on disappointing AC Milan spell

Swiss striker of Nigerian descent, Noah Okafor, has admitted that his spell at AC Milan did not go as planned.

Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, the 25-year-old did not shy away from expressing disappointment over his time in Italy.

“Milan? Wrong choice. I was in top form at Salzburg. It was a great step forward for my development. Then I went to AC Milan. There were plans for me there, but in football, plans don’t always go the way you want. For me, the most important thing is to play every game, give my all, and keep improving. That’s how you build confidence,” he said.

He contrasted his struggles in Milan with his fresh start in England, explaining why Leeds United was the right move.

“It’s hard to be at your best when you only play 20 or 30 minutes as a substitute in a few games. It’s tough to gain rhythm and confidence that way. That’s why I chose Leeds, I know my qualities. Now I come every day with a smile and give my best on the pitch,” he added.

Okafor completed a permanent transfer to Leeds this summer in a deal worth €21 million, including €2 million in bonuses, after parting ways with Milan.
