Habib Beye slams refereeing after Rennes defeat to Marseille

Senegalese coach Habib Beye has backed French-Malian forward Ousmane Dembele to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.

According to the Stade Rennais FC manager, Dembele had an exceptional campaign with PSG last season and deserves the recognition.

“I think they’ve had such an exceptional season that we wouldn’t be surprised if someone from PSG took him. For example, Dembele or Hakimi.

“But honestly, Ousmane Dembélé’s season is simply impressive, judging by his statistics,” Habib Beye argued in an interview.

The 47-year-old coach added, “He embodied the collective strength of that team with his pressing. That look… You could tell he was willing to crush everything in his path, to prove he was unstoppable. And for the club where he trained, as well as for our academy, that would be a fantastic example.”

“In any case, it would be a wonderful reward for him, well deserved considering his season, which is why I’m talking about Dembélé. But I would also be very happy if it were Hakimi, as he’s a defender, and that would also be a recognition for a lesser-known player. But Dembélé stands out as the obvious choice.”

The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held on Monday, September 22.

Although many tip Ousmane Dembele to win the prestigious award, others believe Lamine Yamal could run away with it.
