Senegal midfielder Lamine Camara ready to play in any role to help AS Monaco
Senegal midfielder Lamine Camara has indicated that he is ready to play in any role to help his club, AS Monaco.
He explained that he fully respects the decisions of head coach Sébastien Pocognoli and is prepared to embrace every task assigned to him.
“I respect the coach’s instructions. If he asks me to go beyond my role, I do it,” he said during a press conference on Friday.
Camara added, “When he needs to push the team forward or asks me to take set pieces, I’m there to help the team. I like to shoot from distance and score goals; the coach gives me that freedom and especially asks me to cover when our attacking midfielders are tired. As you said, I win back a lot of balls, but now I just need to capitalise and provide assists or, why not, finish the attacks.”
Camara has been a key figure at Monaco since joining from FC Metz in the summer of 2024. His importance to the squad came under brief concern when he suffered the longest injury of his young career at the end of September, sidelining him for nearly two months.
During his recovery period, the club dismissed Adi Hütter, one of his strongest supporters, and appointed Sébastien Pocognoli.
Despite the change, Camara’s status has remained unchanged, as he continues to be an indispensable presence in Monaco’s midfield.
