Roberto De Zerbi worried as Nayef Aguerd faces new injury setback at Marseille
Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi has voiced serious concern after defender Nayef Aguerd was forced off the pitch with a thigh injury during the 3-0 triumph over Stade Brestois.
“Aguerd is the bad news today. He still suffers from pubalgia, and he felt it has worsened. He will undergo tests, but it is necessary for him to rest a bit,” De Zerbi explained, highlighting potential long-term trouble for both the club and the Moroccan national team.
De Zerbi is worried Aguerd could miss crucial fixtures: “He could miss the CAN, there is also the Super Cup in Kuwait—although I don’t understand why we are going there to play. It’s a decisive month for the Champions League. I hope it’s nothing serious and that he can recover quickly.”
Since joining Marseille in the summer, Aguerd has brought leadership and composure to their back line. Now, both Marseille and Morocco anxiously await medical results, hoping for good news on a player considered vital to their ambitions.
