Algerian international Amine Gouiri set to return for Marseille clash with Le Havre

As Marseille prepares to face Stade Brestois, coach Roberto De Zerbi addressed the media regarding the health status of several players, especially striker Amine Gouiri, who’s still recovering from shoulder surgery.

Gouiri, Algeria’s international star, was injured last month during a match against Uganda, forcing him into surgery to correct a recurring shoulder issue. The operation and recovery plan, coordinated with club medical staff, will keep him away from the field until early 2026.

De Zerbi underlined how important Gouiri is to Marseille’s project, defending his managerial decisions: “Gouiri didn’t play at first because he wasn’t 100%, then he started against PSG. He’s a unique player, and I’d make a mistake if I tried to create another Gouiri in the team. I try out player characteristics and build something collective.” Gouiri’s performance before his injury, especially his goal and assist against Metz, revealed how he’s blossoming with Marseille.

His return is eagerly awaited by De Zerbi and the fans, as Gouiri brings rare technical skill and creativity that the team truly values.
