Olympique Marseille eyeing move to sign Lutsharel Geertruida

French Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille are eyeing a move to sign Dutch defender Lutsharel Geertruida.

According to Foot Mercato, the Ligue 1 side have turned their attention to the RB Leipzig defender after a busy window that has already seen Azzedine Ounahi depart for Girona and Jonathan Rowe join Bologna.

Marseille have been in pursuit of Club Brugge’s Joel Ordóñez, but talks have stalled with the Belgian outfit unwilling to release their Ecuadorian talent. Discussions with West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd are also ongoing, with the Moroccan reportedly interested in a move to the Vélodrome.

With just two days left before the transfer deadline, Geertruida has emerged as a key target.

The 25-year-old, who moved to Leipzig from Feyenoord last summer after attracting interest from PSG, endured a challenging debut season in Germany.

Capped 17 times by the Netherlands, he is understood to be open to a switch to Ligue 1.
