Noni Madueke shines as UEFA names him Champions League Player of the Week
Noni Madueke has been voted UEFA Champions League Player of the Week after outperforming Jules Koundé, Charles De Ketelaere and Oscar Gloukh in the latest round of matches.
The 21-year-old England international delivered a standout performance at the Jan Breydel Stadium, guiding Arsenal to a 3-0 win over Club Brugge.
His influence was decisive, scoring twice and dictating much of his team’s attacking rhythm.
His opening goal — a moment that drew widespread admiration — came after he weaved past several defenders before striking cleanly from just outside the penalty area, leaving the Brugge goalkeeper with no chance.
His contribution proved vital as Arsenal secured a dominant victory.
UEFA’s weekly ranking placed Jules Koundé in second position following his decisive display in Barcelona’s 2-1 win against Eintracht Frankfurt.
The French defender scored both goals for the Catalan side, each coming from expertly timed headers.
The first, created by a precision first-time cross from Marcus Rashford, saw Koundé rise above his marker to place a superb header into the net.
His second, another powerful effort from the right flank, ultimately sealed Barcelona’s comeback.
Belgian midfielder Charles De Ketelaere took third place after helping Atalanta to a 2-1 victory over Chelsea.
His crucial moment arrived in the 83rd minute when he finished off a well-constructed move with a composed strike that secured all three points for the Italian club.
Completing the top four is Ajax’s Oscar Gloukh, who played a major role in his team’s 4-2 triumph against Qarabag.
The young Israeli midfielder impressed with a brace, further underlining his growing importance to the Dutch side.
