Nigeria’s Super Eagles head to Fez to step up AFCON 2025 preparations
Nigeria’s Super Eagles will arrive in Fez, Morocco, this Thursday as they intensify preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The three-time African champions will leave their training base in Cairo on a charter flight to join the official tournament camp.
Coach Eric Chelle set up the squad’s base in Cairo last Sunday to refine tactical plans and complete final preparations ahead of the continental competition.
As part of their build-up, Nigeria will face Egypt in a friendly at Cairo International Stadium this Tuesday evening. The match provides a vital test against one of Africa’s strongest national teams.
The friendly will give Chelle the chance to assess his squad, experiment with tactical options, and gauge overall readiness before the tournament begins.
Players will gain valuable minutes on the pitch while staff monitor fitness levels and match sharpness.
Nigeria has been drawn into Group C alongside Tanzania’s Taifa Stars, Tunisia’s Eagles of Carthage, and Uganda’s Cranes.
The Super Eagles will start their AFCON 2025 campaign against Tanzania, face host nation Tunisia on Saturday, December 27, and conclude the group stage against Uganda on Tuesday, December 30.
All of Nigeria’s group-stage matches will take place at the Fes Sports Complex, which will also serve as the team’s base during the initial phase of the tournament.
The squad will focus on building cohesion, fine-tuning tactics, and maintaining peak physical condition ahead of their first competitive match.
