Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika committed to Club Bruges amid transfer speculation
Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika has no immediate plans to leave Club Bruges despite attracting interest from major European clubs, according to sources close to the player.
The 24-year-old, who has become a mainstay in the Belgian side’s midfield, remains fully committed to the club’s project and is not pushing for a move.
Fenerbahçe, West Ham United, and AC Milan have all reportedly shown interest, but Bruges’ €40 million valuation of the player proved too steep for the Turkish club, leading them to withdraw from negotiations.
A representative from CAA Stellar, the agency managing Onyedika’s affairs, said: “He (Onyedika) is fully focused on Club Bruges for now. If there is to be a transfer, it will be up to the clubs to decide. Raphael is in no rush to leave. He is happy in Bruges and will not demand a move. He is an exemplary professional, always striving for improvement. He is humble enough to know that the right time will come, and he will welcome it.”
Onyedika joined Club Bruges in 2022 from Danish side FC Midtjylland, having also spent time on loan at Fredericia earlier in his career.
Since his arrival in Belgium, he has made 142 appearances for the club, contributing six goals and four assists.
Last season alone, he featured in 52 matches across domestic and European competitions, including the Champions League and Belgian Cup, reinforcing his status as a crucial figure in the squad.
With his contract running until the summer of 2027, Bruges are under no pressure to sell, and the midfielder’s consistent performances have only bolstered his importance to the team.
His tactical awareness, defensive stability, and work ethic have not only earned him plaudits in Belgium but also placed him firmly in the plans of Nigeria’s national team selectors.
Onyedika has represented the Super Eagles 17 times since his debut in 2022, scoring one international goal.
His steady rise at both club and international levels underscores why European clubs continue to monitor him closely.
As the summer transfer window unfolds, the decision ultimately rests with Club Bruges, but for now, Onyedika remains a grounded professional, focused on his role in Belgium rather than chasing a high-profile move abroad.
