NIGER: COLONEL DJIBRILLA HAMIDOU RE-ELECTED AS HEAD OF THE FOOTBALL FEDERATION!

Colonel Djibrilla Hima Hamidou, also known as “Pelé,” has been re-elected as the president of the Nigerien Football Federation (FENIFOOT) for a new 4-year term. The re-election took place in Agadez, and Hamidou secured 112 out of 115 votes after his sole competitor, Abdoulkader Dan Badjo, withdrew from the race. Despite this victory, Hamidou faces challenges as some members of his previous executive office accuse him of financial misconduct, particularly in the management of funds allocated to FENIFOOT by the State. Accusations include mismanagement of funds for the national team’s participation in previous African Cup of Nations (CAN) campaigns. An audit has been recommended to investigate these allegations.
