Mostafa Mohamed ends drought with breakthrough goal for Nantes
Mostafa Mohamed finally found his scoring touch again for Nantes as the Egyptian striker netted his first goal of the 2025-2026 French League season.
The 27-year-old forward opened the scoring just eight minutes into Saturday’s third-round clash with Auxerre, giving Nantes an early boost. It was a moment of relief for both player and fans, as Mohamed had been searching for a league goal since his strike against Rennes late last season.
That previous goal had come in a 2-1 loss, but this time the Egyptian’s effort carried more optimism. His sharp finish reflected his determination to return to form after enduring a six-match drought in the league.
Since arriving from Turkish giants Galatasaray in the summer of 2022, Mohamed has been a steady presence in the Nantes attack. The goal against Auxerre lifted his tally to 26 goals in 115 games across all competitions for the French side.
In league play alone, Mohamed now stands on 22 goals in 98 appearances, a reminder of his impact and importance to the club.
