Morocco U17 set record with biggest win in FIFA World Cup history

Morocco’s U17 team made history in Qatar on Sunday, after a breathtaking 16-0 demolition of New Caledonia in their final group match at the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup.

The victory per FIFA “is the biggest win at an 11-a-side World Cup at any level.”

The North Africans dominated from the first whistle, racing to a 7-0 lead by halftime. The game’s defining moment came in the 31st minute when New Caledonia’s Jean Canehmez received a yellow card following an earlier red for Typhan Dreuko.

With extra space on the field, Morocco attacked relentlessly and scored nine more goals in the second half.

Despite their record-breaking win, Morocco U17’s fate in the tournament is still uncertain. With three points from their final group game, their qualification for the knockout stage will depend on results from other groups, particularly Groups C and D.
