Mohamed Ouahbi demands full focus as Morocco target perfect group stage finish

Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi has urged his players to maintain their intensity and ambition ahead of their final U20 World Cup group match against Mexico on Saturday in Valparaíso.

The Atlas Lions have already sealed qualification for the knockout stage after impressive victories over Spain (2-0) and Brazil (2-1), but Ouahbi insists his team must not ease off.

“Our objective is to reach the final and win the World Cup,” he told reporters. “We must approach this match with the same seriousness and intensity as the previous ones. W

e will do everything possible to win.”

Despite qualification already secured, the Moroccan coach plans to make some changes to his starting lineup to offer more players the chance to contribute, while keeping the team’s style and spirit intact.

“Wearing the national jersey is an honor,” he said. “Every player is ready to fight to defend the colors of Morocco.”

Ouahbi emphasised that early qualification should not lead to complacency. He praised his players for showing discipline and determination throughout the tournament.

“Qualification should not make us relax,” he added. “All the players are showing responsibility and focus.”

While Morocco look to maintain their perfect record, Mexico face a must-win situation after two draws left their qualification hopes hanging in the balance.

Ouahbi believes the fixture will serve as a valuable test ahead of the knockout rounds, helping assess his team’s depth and readiness for tougher challenges.

“This match will reveal a lot before the knockout phase,” he said. “It’s a chance to strengthen our momentum and test our squad.”

With confidence high and a place in the last 16 secured, Morocco aim to finish the group stage with three wins from three and send a strong message to their rivals.
