MC Oran president Hadjioui Sidi Mohamed steps down amid early cup exit
MC Oran has announced that club president Hadjioui Sidi Mohamed has submitted his resignation from the board of directors of the MC Oran sporting club.
The 45‑year‑old officially cited professional reasons, with a club statement explaining: “MC Oran informs its supporters and the entire sporting community that Mr. Hadjioui Mohamed has resigned from his position as chairman of the board of directors of the MC Oran Sports Club.”, before stressing that the decision is linked to his major responsibilities at Hyproc, a Sonatrach subsidiary that owns the club, where he serves as director of information and communication systems.
Behind the scenes, however, the resignation clearly follows the shock elimination from the Algerian Cup in the round of 32 against ES Mostaganem, a setback that cut short a promising start to the season. MC Oran currently sits third in the league, and Hadjioui had only been in the role since July, which makes his departure all the more abrupt.
To ensure continuity, the board has moved quickly and appointed Hicham Kennad as the new president, who will now be tasked with stabilising the club and capitalising on its strong league position while turning the page on the cup disappointment
