Leroy Sane eyes return to boyhood club Schalke 04
German forward of Senegalese descent, Leroy Sane, is eyeing a return to his boyhood club, Schalke 04, to end his career.
Sané, who joined Galatasaray from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2025 on a deal running until 2028, revealed that he remains open to an emotional reunion with the club where his professional journey began.
Speaking in an interview with kicker, the 29-year-old said returning to Schalke one day would be a fitting way to close out his career.
“I think maybe playing for Schalke in the end would be kind of exciting. It’s always been incredibly great here. There’s always been a fantastic atmosphere, always a great feeling. That’s why I’m very open to it. It would be a great story,” Sané said.
Despite his long-term contract with the Turkish giants, Sané suggested there is still time to make such a move happen.
“I still have some time; I’m only turning 30,” he added.
Sané rose through the youth ranks at Schalke 04, where he made 57 competitive appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing 8 assists before moving to Manchester City in 2016.
