Lamine Yamal injury puts Barcelona’s Valencia and Newcastle clashes in doubt

The head coach of Real Sociedad, Sergio Francisco, has opined that he believes Lamine Yamal is the best player in the world.

The tactician was impressed by the performance of the Spanish forward of Moroccan descent over the weekend when he put up a top performance in Barcelona’s 2-1 victory against Real Sociedad.

The teenager came on in the 58th minute as a substitute and provided the assist for the winning goal.

In his post-match interview, Sergio Francisco spoke highly of Lamine Yamal, insisting that he proves in every match that he is the best player in the world.

“His presence on the pitch is always a threat. Lamine proves every day that he is the best player in the world.

“It’s a joy to watch him, and he plays a crucial role in the games,” said Sergio Francisco.

Although many believe the teenager to be the best player in the world, he was beaten to the 2025 Ballon d’Or award by PSG star Ousmane Dembele.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is already backing Yamal to claim the prize in 2026.
