Inter Milan has submitted an improved offer for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, proposing €45 million plus an additional €8 million in performance-based add-ons in a bid to finalise the deal before a self-imposed deadline.

The Serie A giants, who have received the green light from owners Oaktree Capital to escalate their pursuit, consider the Atalanta star a key target to strengthen their attacking options.

Lookman, 27, is viewed by Inter’s technical staff as the ideal profile to address long-standing offensive deficiencies within the squad.

Talks between the two clubs have intensified in recent days, with discussions now being channelled through intermediaries.

Inter had initially lodged a €40 million bid, which was rebuffed by Atalanta, who are holding out for €50 million.

With the new offer edging closer to that valuation, hopes are rising that an agreement could be struck soon.

According to La Repubblica, Lookman has already agreed to personal terms with Inter and is eager to complete the switch to San Siro.

The former Everton and RB Leipzig winger is said to have committed to a deal that runs through 2031, with an annual net salary of approximately €4 million.

“The player has made his preference clear,” reports from Italy claim, stating that Lookman is prioritising the Inter move as long as negotiations remain active.

His willingness to join the Nerazzurri appears to have softened Atalanta’s stance, though the Bergamo-based club has yet to officially respond to the latest offer.

Inter, aiming to wrap up the signing swiftly, has reportedly given Atalanta a deadline to reply, hoping to avoid further delay in finalising their summer business.

Any prolonged uncertainty could see the club turn to other targets to reinforce their front line.

Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid, another side previously interested in Lookman, are beginning to scale back their pursuit.

The Spanish outfit is now said to be shifting attention toward other profiles, including Lille’s Matías Fernández-Pardo, as the chances of prising Lookman away from Italy diminish.

Lookman, who played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s campaign last season, continues to train while awaiting resolution.

Inter remain optimistic, but Atalanta’s valuation could still prove a decisive hurdle in determining whether the deal goes through.
