Greek Super League: Moroccan striker Ayoub El Kaabi named Best Foreign Player

Moroccan striker Ayoub El Kaabi has been crowned the Best Foreign Player in the Greek Super League for the 2024/25 campaign.

The Olympiacos star received the honour at the Professional Players Association awards ceremony in Athens on Monday, where he was also included in the league’s Team of the Season.

El Kaabi delivered another outstanding year, scoring 27 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions. He finished as the league’s top scorer with 15 goals and played a pivotal role in Olympiacos’ domestic double, finding the net in the Greek Cup final.

The accolade adds to a remarkable spell in Greece. In his debut season in 2023/24, El Kaabi struck 33 times, spearheading Olympiacos to their first-ever European trophy, the UEFA Europa Conference League.

He finished that campaign as the competition’s top scorer with 11 goals, including a semi-final hat-trick against Aston Villa and the decisive strike in the final against Fiorentina.

On the continental stage this season, the 31-year-old maintained his scoring touch, finishing joint top scorer in the UEFA Europa League with seven goals as Olympiacos reached the Round of 16.

Since arriving in Piraeus in 2023, El Kaabi has netted 62 goals in 100 appearances, collecting three major trophies and firmly establishing himself as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards outside the top five leagues.
