Getafe concerned over Chrisantus Uche’s status at Crystal Palace
Getafe officials are increasingly anxious about Chrisantus Uche’s situation at Crystal Palace, just a month after the striker completed a high-profile loan move to South London.
Uche joined Palace with a mandatory €20 million buyout clause, but the start to his Premier League career has been challenging.
Since arriving, Uche has managed only seven minutes in league play, twice remaining an unused substitute, and was dropped to the Under-21 squad to rebuild his fitness. He made a brief appearance in Palace’s Conference League loss to AEK Larnaca, but reports suggest he is not currently part of manager Oliver Glasner’s immediate plans.
The buyout clause only activates if Uche starts ten matches, so unless his circumstances improve, the transfer may collapse, resulting in a likely January return to Getafe. Palace reportedly views him as a longer-term prospect, but the lack of playing time means the Spanish club may not see the move finalized.
Concerned about Uche’s stagnation, Getafe continues to monitor the situation closely, hoping for a turnaround that will allow the young forward to establish himself in England.
