Galatasaray secure Leroy Sane with smart injury-proof deal ahead of Club World Cup
Galatasaray have taken steps to protect their new star signing Leroy Sane from any financial setbacks before he officially joins the Turkish giants.
Although Sane signed his Galatasaray contract on Thursday, effective July 1, he remains eligible to play for Bayern Munich until the end of June, including the Club World Cup.
According to Bild, the Turkish club has guaranteed that if the 29-year-old winger suffers an injury during the tournament, insurance will cover his salary until he fully recovers.
Sane has already joined Bayern’s camp in Orlando, though a one-on-one with head coach Vincent Kompany is yet to happen. Sources indicate Sane still hopes to understand his role in the upcoming games but isn’t expected to feature prominently.
“The contract expires, so it is perfectly legitimate and also zero resentment. And that now also shows perfectly that he says: but hey I want to be there with you these 14 days. I want to play here I want to start this club World Cup,” said Bayern’s sports director Max Eberl, applauding Sane’s commitment.
