Gaël Kakuta is still seeking a move away from Rayo Vallecano, and his next destination could be in France. Initially linked with Amiens SC, the Spanish club ultimately turned to Chadrac Akolo, but reports suggest that Kakuta could still join FC Metz.
According to Le Courrier Picard, Amiens is close to finalizing a permanent deal for the Congolese winger. The club has reportedly agreed on a transfer fee of around €3 million with Rayo Vallecano. Amiens had previously tried to bring Kakuta back on loan in January, but negotiations were unsuccessful at the time.
However, the situation remains competitive, as another Ligue 1 side, FC Metz, has expressed interest in the player, potentially complicating the transfer. Kakuta, who shone in France during the 2017-18 season with 6 goals and 6 assists in 36 Ligue 1 matches, struggled last season in La Liga, scoring just one goal in 12 appearances for Rayo Vallecano.
The Congolese attacker’s next move will be crucial for reviving his career, and both Amiens and Metz are looking to capitalize on his experience and versatility on the wings to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season.
