French-Congolese defender Axel Disasi offered to Barcelona amid AS Roma interest
Chelsea have reportedly offered France defender of Congolese descent Axel Disasi to Barcelona amid interest from AS Roma.
Barcelona’s need for defensive reinforcement has grown following a serious injury to Andreas Christensen. The Danish defender has suffered a torn cruciate ligament and is expected to be sidelined for at least four months. The situation has created a notable void in central defence and increased pressure on the club to act during the winter window.
However, any potential move for Disasi faces a major obstacle. Chelsea are unwilling to sanction a loan deal, with the Premier League side keen on permanently offloading the defender and removing his wages from their books. As a result, the Blues are insisting on a fixed transfer fee.
This stance presents a challenge for Barcelona, who remain constrained by La Liga’s strict Financial Fair Play rules. Generating significant funds during the January window is proving difficult, limiting their flexibility in the market.
As an alternative, Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi is also on Barcelona’s shortlist.
The Argentine defender is viewed as a more realistic target in the longer term, with a possible move next summer when he could be available on a free transfer.
