Fit-again Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen trains with Galatasaray ahead of Fenerbahce clash
Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has returned to training as Galatasaray gears up for their blockbuster Turkish Super Lig clash against Fenerbahce.
In highly-competitive clash on Monday, the two most glamorous clubs in Turkey will battle it out for maximum points.
However, Galatasaray have been boosted by the return of their top striker, who missed the sides’ last two games through injury. Osimhen has joined teammates at training, signaling his readiness for the Fenerbahce showdown.
Osimhen had suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with Nigeria, limping off at halftime in the World Cup qualifier against DR Congo in Morocco. He later watched from the bench as the Super Eagles crashed out after a disappointing penalty shoot-out.
Initial tests revealed a moderate strain and bleeding in his left posterior muscle, and early estimates suggested he would be sidelined for about three weeks. His expected return was mid-December, shortly before Nigeria’s AFCON campaign.
But after eleven days on the sidelines, the forward has returned to training and is expected to feature in the upcoming clash.
Osimhen missed the sides’ previous games against Genclerbirligi and Union Saint Gilloise due to the setback. Galatasaray sit just one point ahead of Fenerbahçe, making Monday’s derby crucial in the race for top spot.
