Egyptian giants Al Ahly considering ex-Union Berlin trainer Urs Fischer for vacant coaching job

Former Union Berlin and Switzerland gaffer Urs Fischer is among the candidate for the vacant Al Ahly coaching job.

The record Champions League holders are without a substantive coach following the sacking of Spanish trainer Jose Riveiro last week after a string of unimpressive results this season.

Riveiro left Al Ahly after just four month spell at the club. His sacking stem from the club’s 2-0 home defeat to reigning CAF Champions League holders, Pyramids FC at Cairo International Stadium.

According to reports, Fisher is among the names being considered, after Paulo Bento backed down the opportunity to lead the Egyptian giants for the second time.

Before appointing Riveiro, Al Ahly had contacted Fischer for the coaching after Marcel Koller was shown the exit door.

Emad El Nahhas is currently serving as Al Ahly’s interim coach until a foreign coach is hired

Al Ahly are currently ranked 13th in the Egyptian Premier League this season, accumulating just five points from the initial four games.
