DRC: Constant Omari slams politicians’ lack of will
In an interview with Rdcfoot, Constant Omari, president of the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA), spoke candidly about the state of sports in the Democratic Republic of Congo, directly blaming political leaders for their lack of commitment. Known for his outspoken nature, Omari did not mince words, highlighting what he sees as a systemic problem in government priorities.
To illustrate his point, Omari cited the ranking of the Ministry of Sports in the new government. “There is a lack of political will. Let’s take the example of the newly formed government: where is the Ministry of Sports placed? Penultimate. In France, the Ministry of Youth and Sports is ranked fourth. That shows intent; they want to achieve results. But in our case, when we no longer know how to place someone, they are put in the Ministry of Sports,” he explained.
Omari’s remarks underline his frustration with the perceived neglect of sports by political authorities and serve as a pointed call to action for decision-makers to prioritize the development of athletics and football in the country.
