Christopher Nkunku faces uncertain Milan future amid Saudi interest

Christopher Nkunku’s start to life at AC Milan has been far from the explosive impact many imagined, and his future could already be on the line heading into the January window.

In his first three months, the winger has offered only brief flashes: a strong second half in Turin and a brace against Sassuolo, plus a goal on his Coppa Italia debut versus Lecce, isolated moments in an otherwise barren spell in terms of performances and goals.

From the outset, there were doubts about how well his profile really matched Milan’s tactical needs, yet injuries to Rafael Leão, Christian Pulisic and especially Santiago Giménez ensured Nkunku received plenty of chances.

Nkunku cost 37 million euros plus five in bonuses and earns around five million net per season until 2030, a heavy commitment that Milan might try to offload if a suitable offer arrives.

According to Tuttosport, his agent Pini Zahavi has already started sounding out potential destinations. Because Nkunku has not played for Chelsea this season, he remains eligible to join another European club, but the only concrete interest so far comes from Saudi Arabia’s Pro League.

The player’s decision will be crucial, as a move outside Europe could complicate his ambitions of returning to the France squad ahead of the next World Cup, while staying might mean fighting for minutes in a system that has yet to truly embrace him.
