Arsenal loanee Arthur Okonkwo is set to undergo additional examinations by a specialist to ascertain the extent of the jaw injury sustained during Wrexham’s League Two encounter against Harrogate Town on November 28.
The Hale End Academy graduate showcased resilience by playing through discomfort in the first half against Harrogate Town but was substituted at halftime following advice from the club’s medical staff.
Initially downplayed by Red Dragons manager Phil Parkinson, the injury led to Okonkwo’s absence from the gameday squad for Wrexham’s Emirates FA Cup fixture against Yeovil Town, with Mark Howard continuing to deputize in goal.
“We will know more on Monday with Arthur. He is getting another opinion from the specialist. But you have got to give Mark credit,” Parkinson explained in statements shared by the Leader.
Joining Wrexham on loan until the season’s end just before the summer transfer window’s closure, Okonkwo swiftly established himself as a regular starter within a month. Despite his injury setback, the 22-year-old has showcased a promising record, securing six clean sheets in thirteen appearances across various competitions for the Reds.
