Algeria A’, the defending Arab Cup champions, are preparing for their opening Group D match against Sudan in Doha with determination and focus, despite the weight of expectations following their 2021 triumph.

Coach Madjid Bougherra emphasized that his team is approaching the tournament with calm professionalism, treating every game as decisive.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Bougherra highlighted the mindset he expects from his squad: “There is no added pressure.

We expect everything from this competition. Yesterday, Palestine and Syria won against two teams that were contenders for the title.”

The coach underlined the competitive nature of the tournament, reminding players that every match carries immense significance. “It’s a competition, as I said in 2021. When it starts, everyone is a contender.

Every match is a final, every selection seeks victory. What I’ve been saying was confirmed after yesterday’s matches. Even the players need to be more focused and play every match as if it were a final,” he added.

Bougherra also issued a warning regarding Sudan, Algeria’s first opponent: “We know the Sudanese team well.

We’ve already faced them at the CHAN. They have a large following here in Qatar.”

He acknowledged that the difficult situation in Sudan could drive their players’ motivation: “They have problems in their country, and that motivates them.

They want to make their people happy. Sudan is going through difficult times, and all of this must be taken into consideration.”

The Algerian coach concluded by stressing the importance of a strong start to the tournament, underlining that his team must combine focus, tactical discipline, and determination from the very first whistle to maintain their status as defending champions.

Algeria will face Sudan in their Group D opener, with every member of the squad aware that each game carries the weight of a final in their pursuit of consecutive Arab Cup glory.
