Algeria midfielder Farès Chaïbi ruled out of friendlies against Zimbabwe and Saudi Arabia
Algeria has suffered another injury setback ahead of their friendly matches against Zimbabwe and Saudi Arabia, with Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Farès Chaïbi being ruled out of the games.
The 22-year-old, who has been in a rich vein of form joins Ramy Bensebaïni and Youcef Belaïli as the major absentees for the November international break due to injuries.
Farès Chaïbi suffered an injury setback at the weekend while in action for Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga clash against Mainz 05, where his outfit secure a narrow victory to merit the three maximum points.
The midfielder, who was expected to join his teammates in Jeddah, had to withdraw from the squad due to the setback.
Chaïbi will remain in Germany to receive the necessary treatment, which complicates matters for coach Vladimir Petković as confirmed by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF).
The Algerian team will face Zimbabwe on November 13 and Saudi Arabia on November 18.
Farès Chaïbi has made nine appearances in the Bundesliga for Frankfurt, scoring one goal and delivering five assists.
Since making his debut for Algeria in 2023, the midfielder has racked up 22 appearances, scoring two goals in the process.
