Al Ittihad clears air over Karim Benzema’s future amid exit rumours
Saudi Pro League giants Al Ittihad have provided update about Karim Benzema’s future at the club amid reports of a possible departure.
The France international of Algerian descent is facing an uncertain future at Ittihad as he nears contract expiration at the club.
Benzema, who has been in the books of Al Ittihad since 2023, will see his contract elapse next summer, and is set to enter a free transfer window in January 2026, allowing him to negotiate with any club without consulting the federation.
However, Al Ittihad’s spokesperson Hassan Al-Mazhar has swiftly responded to Benzema’s future at the club, categorically deny all the rumours.
“There is no truth to what is being circulated about the future of the first football team captain, Karim Benzema, with Al-Ittihad Club. What is being published in this regard is completely false.”
“We call on our dear fans not to be swayed by rumours that seek to undermine the club’s stability. We emphasize that the federation’s news is only released through its official channels.”
Meanwhile, Benzema has been linked with a move to Portuguese giants Benfica, with Jose Mourinho reportedly eyeing a reunion with the former Real Madrid.
