Al Ahly battles preseason camp turmoil in Tunisia
Al Ahly are struggling to put their Tunisia training camp in order as they prepare to return to the pitch after an 18-day break.
The Cairo giants, still reeling from their Club World Cup exit, are facing a storm of logistical and scheduling issues as their preseason plans unravel.
A source told Kooora that the camp has turned into a major headache for the technical team and club management.
“Mohamed Youssef, the sports director, is making great efforts to control a large number of problems related to the camp, especially regarding the friendly matches,” a source told Kooora.
“The company responsible for organizing the camp is also trying to resolve the crisis surrounding the friendly matches, especially after Esperance, then Club Africain, and Algerian club ES Constantine apologized for not playing against Al Ahly.
“The matter was completely settled yesterday regarding the matches against Stade Tunisien, followed by Chabab Belouizdad and Etoile du Sahel on July 21, 25 and 28.
“But a new problem erupted when Etoile Sportive du Sahel refused to move its match from the Olympic Stadium to Tabarka and consequently threatened not to play it. The same applies to CR Belouizdad, whose potential friendly match is also shrouded in mystery.
“Mohamed Youssef, Al-Ahly’s sporting director, and Samir Adly, the club’s administrative director, have been assigned to travel to Tabarka today to finalize all the details with the officials.”
