UFOA Nations Cup: The organization unveils the main lines of the competition

The UFOA Nations Cup is set to kick off on September 28 in Senegal, with the local organizing committee providing key details ahead of the tournament during a press conference on Monday. The sub-regional competition will feature 16 teams, including Senegal as hosts, with Morocco invited to replace Sierra Leone.

The tournament’s organizational plan highlights that all teams will be accommodated in either Mbour or Saly, with official support from ESPN covering tickets and lodging. Matches will take place at the Lat Dior Stadium in Thiès, and the entire competition will be broadcast live on Senegalese channel RTS, aiming to increase visibility for the UFOA Nations Cup.

The financial incentives are significant. With a total tournament budget of 350 million FCFA, the winning team will earn $100,000, adding extra motivation for participating sides. The tournament will run from September 28 to October 13, featuring teams from both UFOA zones A and B.

The 16 participating nations are Senegal, Mauritania, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, Ghana, Cape Verde, Nigeria, Togo, Burkina Faso, Morocco, Liberia, and Benin. The competition promises to be highly competitive, offering a platform for West African teams to showcase talent and vie for regional supremacy.
