Morocco will beat Jordan to win 2025 Arab Cup - Tariq Sektioui

Morocco head coach Tariq Sektioui has warned that his side faces a stern test against Jordan in the final of the Arab Cup but remains confident the trophy will end up in Moroccan hands.

Speaking ahead of the decisive clash in Doha later today, Sektioui acknowledged the challenge posed by Jordan, who are coached by his compatriot Jamal Sellami.

Sellami has previously tipped Sektioui as a future coach of the Moroccan national team, praise the former defender was quick to acknowledge.

“I appreciate his kind words and his recognition of the work I have done,” Sektioui said. “However, this is not the moment to discuss the Moroccan national team or its coaching. I have a clear mission at this tournament, and my focus is on completing it successfully.”

Despite his respect for the opposition, Sektioui insisted Morocco are determined to lift the trophy, stressing the importance of the competition to the country’s football landscape.

“God willing, the title will be Moroccan,” he added. “Moroccan football needs this cup badly, especially in the current context.”

The coach also underlined the fine margins at this stage of the tournament, urging his players to rise to the occasion against what he described as a difficult opponent.

“We are now at a point where mistakes are no longer allowed. We have made huge sacrifices to reach this final. I feel a strong desire within the squad to win the title, but they will have to work extremely hard against a strong and stubborn Jordan side.”

The Arab Cup final kicks off at 16:00 GMT in Doha.
