CAF Champions League: RS Berkane coach Moïne Chaâbani targets victory over Rivers Utd on Friday
RS Berkane head coach Moïne Chaâbani says his side is heading into Friday’s CAF Champions League clash against Rivers United with belief and determination as they look to build on their impressive start to the group stage.
The Moroccan champions opened their 2025/26 campaign in style, sweeping aside Zambia’s Power Dynamos 3-0 to take an early lead in Group A.
Their next test comes in Uyo, where Rivers United will be desperate to bounce back after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Pyramids FC on the opening day.
Speaking from Morocco before departing for Nigeria, Moïne Chaâbani praised his team’s strong opening performance and called for the same level of intensity away from home.
“We will travel to Nigeria to face Rivers United with the aim of returning with a positive result, and we hope that it will be an away victory,” the Tunisian coach said.
He added, “We know it won’t be an easy match, and our goal is to reach the furthest possible point in the CAF Champions League.”
Chaabani’s confidence sets the tone for Berkane, who remain focused on extending their momentum as they chase a second straight win in the competition.
The crucial showdown between Rivers United and RS Berkane is scheduled to kick off at 4 pm today.
