Olympique Akbou climbs to second place after hard-fought win over ASO Chlef

Olympique Akbou delivered a dramatic performance, triumphing 2-1 at home against ASO Chlef to claim the second spot in Algeria’s Ligue 1 after matchday 12.

The story of the match started with a missed opportunity, Akbou won a penalty after a VAR review, but Addadi shot over the bar. The hosts regrouped before halftime, finding the breakthrough when Hitala nudged in Boukarroum’s curling free kick in the 41st minute.

Right at the start of the second half, Hitala provided a delicate header to set up Addadi, who redeemed himself with a crisp finish and doubled Akbou’s lead. ASO Chlef pushed back and narrowed the margin late, as Feddal pounced on a rebound off the crossbar to score with just minutes remaining.

The victory sees Akbou join MC Oran in second place, trailing leaders MC Alger by a single point. Chlef, by contrast, slumps to their fourth consecutive defeat and sinks deeper into the relegation zone, leaving coach Fouad Bouali under pressure. Elsewhere, Paradou AC continued its winning streak, beating MC El-Bayadh and edging away from the bottom of the table.
