Wydad AC to unveil Hakim Ziyech before fans ahead of Ittihad Tanger clash

Wydad Athletic Club will officially unveil Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech to supporters on Sunday at the Complexe Sportif Mohammed V in Casablanca.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place ahead of the Botola Pro encounter against Ittihad Tanger, marking the 32-year-old’s grand introduction to the Wydad faithful.

Ziyech, who completed his move to the Red Devils in late October on a free transfer from Qatari side Al-Duhail SC, signed a one-and-a-half-year deal — his first return to Moroccan football in more than a decade.

The former Chelsea and Ajax midfielder will wear the iconic No. 7 jersey, a number befitting his reputation as one of Morocco’s most technically gifted players. Replica shirts bearing his name have already gone on sale at Wydad’s official club stores.

Ziyech was in attendance for Wednesday’s 139th Casablanca Derby between Wydad and Raja, watching from the stands at the Mohammed V Stadium. His presence generated huge excitement among fans, prompting the club to announce a special presentation ceremony before Sunday’s fixture.

Wydad’s management views the event as both a celebration of Ziyech’s homecoming and a symbol of the club’s renewed ambition to assert dominance on domestic and continental fronts.

Although he will be introduced to the fans this weekend, Ziyech is not expected to make his competitive debut until January 2026, according to AfricaSoccer.com.
