Wydad Athletic Club to unveil Hakim Ziyech next week - Club president Aït Mena confirms

Wydad Athletic Club president Aït Mena has confirmed that Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech will officially be unveiled as the club’s newest signing next week.

The former Ajax and Chelsea star has joined the Casablanca giants on a free transfer, signing a contract that runs until 2027.

In an interview with local radio, Mena revealed that Ziyech is expected to arrive in Casablanca next week for his official presentation to supporters and the media.

“Ziyech will arrive next week, in order to present him officially to the media and the public. He is in full physical readiness and ready to join the training and participate with the team as soon as possible,” he said.

The Wydad president also praised the 32-year-old’s commitment to returning home, saying the player’s decision reflected his patriotism and passion for Moroccan football.

“Hakim Ziyech has signed a contract with Wydad until 2027, we’ve got an option to extend his deal of course & the talks went really smoothly — he made it pretty clear he wanted to play for his country even though he had a few attractive offers on the table,” Mena added.

Ziyech has been without a club since leaving Qatari side Al-Duhail earlier this year. His move to Wydad marks a return to Moroccan football for one of the country’s most celebrated players, who previously enjoyed stellar spells in the Netherlands and England.
