Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd is a major doubt for Olympique Marseille’s upcoming French Ligue 1 clash against Paris Saint-Germain due to injury.

The defender missed Marseille’s midweek Champions League trip to face Real Madrid, having been sidelined under head concussion protocol.

Aguerd made his debut for Les Olympiens last weekend against FC Lorient, where he sustained a head injury but continued playing. He eventually scored his first goal for the club in injury time.

Following the incident, the club confirmed his absence from the Champions League opener, citing medical precautions.

During a pre-match press conference ahead of the highly anticipated Classique clash, head coach Roberto De Zerbi provided an update on Aguerd’s condition.

De Zerbi stated that the club will continue to monitor Aguerd’s condition and follow all necessary medical procedures before making a decision on his availability for Sunday’s match.

Aguerd joined Marseille from Premier League side West Ham on the final day of the summer transfer window, alongside fellow defender Emerson Palmieri.

Although he feels good, he must wait for medical clearance before returning to action.
