Morocco midfielder Benjamin Bouchouari joins Turkish side Trabzonspor
Morocco international Benjamin Bouchouari has completed a move to Turkish outfit Trabzonspor from Saint Etienne.
Despite having a year left on his contract, the 23-year-old has decided to join Trabzonspor on a permanent deal, derailing his chances of reaching the elusive century mark for caps at Saint Etienne.
During his time with Les Stéphanois, he appeared in 96 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals.
Bouchouari joined Saint-Étienne in August 2022 on a three-year contract after beginning his senior career in the Netherlands at Roda JC.
He made an early impact with the French club, appearing in 34 domestic games in 2022-23 and being named to the Ligue 2 Team of the Season.
The midfielder played 25 times for them in the previous Ligue 1 campaign, which saw them relegated after just one season in the top flight.
Despite being born in Belgium, he opted to play for Morocco instead, a country with which he could claim nationality by descent.
He was a part of the national team that captured the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations and also won a bronze medal with the Atlas Lions at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
