Feyenoord set to loan Ivorian midfielder Chris-Kévin Nadje to Excelsior

Chris-Kévin Nadje is on the verge of leaving Feyenoord on loan, with Excelsior emerging as the leading destination for the Ivorian midfielder.

The Rotterdam club has opened discussions over a temporary move, believing the 24-year-old still requires more development before becoming a regular starter.

Excelsior, also based in Rotterdam, are currently positioned to secure his services for a season-long loan and are expected to finalise the deal shortly.

Nadje, who joined Feyenoord from French side FC Versailles last summer, has made 13 appearances for the Dutch champions, including three outings in the Champions League.

Despite showing promise, head coach Arne Slot is understood to view the Ivorian as a player in need of more consistent game time at senior level to continue his progression.

Should the deal be completed, Nadje would become Excelsior’s 11th addition of the transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad for the Eredivisie campaign.

The move is seen as mutually beneficial: Feyenoord gain the assurance of their player developing in a competitive environment, while Excelsior add quality and versatility to their midfield options.

A member of Ivory Coast’s U23 set-up, Nadje has been regarded as one of the country’s emerging talents.

His arrival at Feyenoord was viewed as a step towards establishing himself on the European stage, but competition within the squad has made regular minutes difficult to secure.

A loan move, particularly within the same city, would provide continuity while giving him the opportunity to showcase his abilities more frequently.

Feyenoord’s strategy with Nadje underlines the club’s focus on balancing long-term player development with immediate team performance.

While his appearances to date—especially at Champions League level—have demonstrated glimpses of quality, both player and management appear aligned in recognising the need for more regular football to aid his growth.

Excelsior, meanwhile, have been proactive in the market, reshaping their squad significantly ahead of the new season.

Securing Nadje would represent a statement of intent, adding a player with experience of top-flight football and European competition.

His dynamism in midfield and ability to operate in multiple roles are expected to bolster the side’s depth and tactical flexibility.

With negotiations now advanced, confirmation of the loan deal could arrive in the coming days, marking the next step in Nadje’s career as he seeks to transform potential into consistent impact on the pitch.
