Benfica renew push for Algerian forward Mohamed Amoura
Benfica are set to revive their pursuit of Mohamed Amoura after negotiations with Wolfsburg initially stalled.
The Algerian forward, who impressed in the Bundesliga last season, remains high on the Portuguese club’s list of targets.
The Lisbon side had offered €28m plus €6m in bonuses, but Wolfsburg demanded €40m, halting progress.
However, events within Benfica have shifted the dynamics.
Turkish winger Kerem Aktürkoğlu, frustrated with his limited role, is now close to joining Fenerbahçe, with talks reportedly at an advanced stage.
His likely departure could provide the funds Benfica need to reignite the Amoura deal.
Club president Rui Costa views the 24-year-old striker as a key signing to fill the void left by Ángel Di María’s retirement and strengthen Benfica’s attack.
Amoura is open to the move and is believed to have an agreement in principle with the Portuguese side.
The final hurdle remains an agreement between the two clubs.
Should Benfica meet Wolfsburg’s demands, Amoura could become one of the standout transfers of the summer, marking a record investment and underlining the club’s European ambitions.
For now, Amoura’s arrival appears closely tied to Aktürkoğlu’s exit, a development that could unlock the path to Estádio da Luz for the Algerian international.
