Al Ahly are holding on tight to Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng, rejecting a transfer offer from Saudi side Al-Hazem.
The Cairo giants made it clear they are not ready to part ways with one of their most reliable players this summer.
After returning from a loan spell at Saudi club Al-Kholood, Dieng rejoined Al Ahly and played for the team in the Club World Cup held in the United States. His return was timely, especially as the club reshapes its midfield following Akram Tawfik’s move to Qatari side Al-Shamal.
On Saturday, the Egyptian champions officially responded to Al-Hazem’s bid with a firm statement posted on their website. Al Ahly stated that they had “sent a letter today to Saudi club Al-Hazem, confirming that player Aliou Dieng is not for sale.”
The club added that “there is no intention to let Dieng go,” emphasizing the player’s value as they gear up for another demanding season.
With Tawfik gone, Dieng’s presence in the heart of midfield has become more vital than ever.
