MC Oran: Qualifies for CAF Cup
MC Oran Clinch CAF Cup Spot After Beating Champions ES Sétif
MC Oran have capped off an impressive season with a 2-1 victory over newly crowned Algerian champions ES Sétif, securing third place in the league and a spot in next season’s CAF Cup. This marks the club’s best league finish in over a decade and a return to continental competition after years of domestic struggles.
Led for much of the season by former coach Jean-Michel Cavalli, MC Oran have transformed from relegation battlers into a competitive force. Reflecting on the achievement, Cavalli stated:
“The game was not easy against the champions, even if they played with a reduced squad. But thank God, we had the last word, snatching the win and third place, which sends MCO back to Africa after many years.”
He added:
“I believe we deserved this victory and this third-place finish. It’s the reward for a difficult season filled with highs and lows.”
MC Oran’s return to continental football is a significant milestone for a club with a rich history in Algerian football.
